But whether you are buying Devoe, Pittsburgh,
Sherwin Williams, Benjamin Moore, Columbia or any other brand of
paint on the market, there are a few things you should know to get
the right product at the right price.
Paint Quality
Most paint manufacturers including the biggest lines, Sherwin
Williams, Benjamin Moore, Columbia, Devoe, and Pittsburgh, make very
good paint. They also make lesser grades. A good paint
store will offer 3 levels of quality: Good, Better and Best.
An entry level or "Good" level paint may require
additional coats and may suffer durability issues over time.
For this reason, it is usually a wise move to choose between the
"Better" or "Best" products. Going this
route will typically save on time while painting while offering
maximum performance over time. Although the "Good"
level paint may have a more appealing initial price point, keep in
mind the added cost of more coats and repainting. When buying
paint, make sure you are comparing apples to apples when looking at
the quality levels.
